The Man and his Donkey
Once upon a time, a man bought a donkey. He and his son were going back home after buying the donkey. They were walking. The man heard a comment that “What a foolish man! If you walk then why did you buy a donkey?”
So the man put his son on the donkey and continue walking. But again he heard another comment from a group of men “See that boy, no respect to an elderly person. He let the older man walk and enjoy rides.”
So this time the man told his son to get off, and he started enjoying the ride of the donkey. They didn’t go too far then they heard another comment “look at this man, he let his son walk and enjoy rides.”
The man became confused about what to do. So he told his boy to get on the donkey. And they were enjoying the ride together. They were near a town. Then they heard another comment “look at this man and the boy. They are enjoying the ride of the poor donkey. What a cruel man!”
This time the man and his son confused about what to do. Then they decided to help the poor donkey. They tied the feet of the donkey. The donkey was too heavy. But they raised the donkey to their shoulder and started walking. Many people laughed at them. They were crossing a bridge, and the bridge was not very strong. And suddenly the donkey kicked out the boy. So the boy, his father and the donkey fell over the bridge. And they lost the donkey.
The moral of the story: In life, we can’t please everyone. People will gossip. Friends will talk behind us. But we have to decide what’s right for us. Do we manipulate our decision by someone’s comment? How someone’s comment influence us? What’re the reasons behind those comments? Is it for their satisfaction or your satisfaction? If it’s your satisfaction, then how good are you to make a decision?
